Jones, Ponchak & Celery Juice Saturday, February 21st, 2008 1:30 – 8:15 Woke up on couch at Mom's Connecticut house

8:15 Getting back to normal sleep pattern and use'er to local time. Terri Jones, a high school buddy who was part of our hippy gang is supposed to get together with me today. Haven't seen her in over 35 years, a FaceBook reunion.

Haven't been able to get onto the Internet since last night. Either pour neighbor noticed or the WiFi modem is on the blink. Probably the later because that is common for old modems. There was an episode of South Park where the Internet is down for the whole USA. I believe it was Kyle fixes it buy unplugging and plugging back in a giant WiFi router. Giving my mother a lesson we have to stick with Word, which is going in a direction I did not want to go in her lessons yet.

Gordon, my mothers boyfriend comes by and they have all have Chinese takeout. I hold off because I am supposed to go out with Terri Jones for lunch. Sneak in an egg roll.

12:30 Terri comes by. She is still tall, not quite skinny, and not quite blonde, but she still looks very pretty. Introductions around and she takes pictures and we take pictures.

Terri Has laryngitis and our plan is to go to the Whole Foods in Glastonbury about 10 miles from here and get some celeery juice to help her talk mo better. First we have a Chinese Buffet lunch at The Parkade, one of the oldest malls in the world. There was quite a selection, lots of Western Food even clams. Quality was OK but for $8 what can you expect? We go by her house down the street that she bought 7 years ago and will be paying the rest of her life. It is cute and she has 4 dogs. Her Irish Setter letrs it be know that he loves you by showing his affection by jumping on you as often as she can. Off is by far the most common word spoken in her household. It is a cute Cape Code style home and she has a tiny mouse that she found and is trying to nurse back to life, without much luck. Get to check my email. Didn't miss much.

3:30 On the way to Whole Foods we drive by Ric Ponchak's house. (That is where I partied last Halloween). This was a surprise visit on our part. Ric & Terri were an item throughout high school. Ric's wife and friend of all Franny, was there along with there daughter Lizzi.

4:20 Terri & I make it to Whole Foods. She has never been there before and drives by it very often on her back way to work. She has never even heard of it before. It is mega, but does not have a juice bar or even have celery juice. No excuse for that. Buy some almond butter you grind yourself and coffee that was roasted yesterday. Asking around, there is probably the only juice bar in Connecticut in Hartford about yet another 10 miles away. Call and they have celery juice.

5:30 Terri has a map of Hartford and we figure our way though the back streets to Alchemy Juice Bar, right next to Trinity College. It is small and cute. !st thing Terri notices is that it has a Oxygen Bar. She didn't know hwat it was but I did. She gets a pint of celery juice ($8).. It takes 2 bunches of celery and the owner was there and he & I was curious what it costs. It's total was $4 worth to them, organic celery. Terri & I both try the Oxygen ($5 for 15 minutes each and $2.50 for the nose piece.

Oxygen is weird, accounts for 8% of our atmosphere, no idea how much of an increase by breathing it in these tubes. People swear by it while others swear against it. Antioxidants are the big thing now. Oxygen destroys everything it comes in contact with. Looks what it does to iron.

7:00 She drives me back home. She has to feed her dogs and gets to sleep around 8:00. Iit was a very exciting day for her (things are boring around here) and fun for me.

8:00 Call sister Betsy and get the name of our next door neighbor we have been tapping the Internet from. It still is not working. I brave it and go over to ask. I have been hesitant because I didn't think he would have know, (How could he?) and we would be screwed if he said no. He is a very nice guy, actually blew all the leaves off Moms yard a year ago fall and loaned me his leaf blower last fall. He did notice the light flashing on his modem and was worried someone was downloadiung porn and he might get arrested. Assured him I was just giving my mother lessons and he said he was happy to turn the WiFI back on. Goody.

Hhis wife has been in the hospital for 3 weeks. She had a stomach bypass surgery to loose weight and the surgeon nicked an artery and she has been bleeding since. It is pretty dismal and hopes she gets better.
